Poetry by Shari Neva Hollander
A horse ran amok
Or so it seemed to those watching
But in his singular mind, it was a dash
Through spring pastures as a colt
A sprint to the finish line as a yearling
His last furlong as an old stud
Before consigning himself
To the hay in the barn and a warm blanket
Shari Neva Hollander was born a poet and that sensibility colors every aspect of her life. Even as an editor, she perceives manuscripts as symphonies that she punctuates for tempo and adds crescendos of poetic phrasing to. Although she lives in Ventura County, frequent visits to her beloved Central Coast make her feel like a dual citizen. She’s the mother of a visionary son who is also a writer.
