I had one last secret to tell
words I think you knew
but now I’m not sure you do
with the state
you left
that molten chain
in a summer rain
that bound us warmly
and never burned us
I had one last secret to tell
under the eaves, me
falling like the leaves
for you
You slipped and tripped to land
upon my lips
where lightning scorched
the fork in those different paths
that sought to part us
Now, I have one last secret to tell
which level I’m on in the game of Hell
fingers scraping
through the fire and ice
in hopes of shared affection
that formed with every letter struck
your Dear John letter plucked
by my mangled digits and parts
to find you frozen in the game of hearts.
